Helping Families
Founded on the premise that “a good exercise for the heart is to bend down and help another up,” Broken Hearts’ mission is simple: support, educate and connect families affected by congenital heart defects and other pediatric heart diseases, so we can navigate together the journey of diagnosis, treatment, recovery and thriving, and share our stories and feelings of fear and anxiety and of victory and hope.
Broken Hearts’ vision is that every family who needs us will find us, and that every family who finds us will be helped. We connect heart families so we can give and receive the support, understanding and compassion so important to not just endure, but to live, laugh and grow.
Broken Hearts strives to educate and raise awareness of congenital heart disease, and the affects it has on survivors, families and society.

Our support includes ...
- connecting and matching families before, during or after heart surgery or other procedure, such as a heart catheterization;
- answering as many questions as we can – from a parent/family perspective – that you may have about your child’s heart condition, quality of life, prognosis, etc.;
- providing support and encouragement during planned or unexpected hospitalizations;
- offering resources and information about congenital heart defects, finding quality care and the importance of follow-up care;
- connecting families and patients through in-person meetings and social media.
Our families are from all over Florida, and we have chapters based in the Tallahassee, Wakulla and Ocala/Gainesville areas. Contact us to find a chapter or family near you.
