Among our biggest and most important programs are:
- Financial Assistance Program — a financial relief program for heart families who need assistance during a planned or unexpected hospital stay; funding of up to $200 per year, per family, helps cover costs associated with long hospital stays (hotel/lodging, gas, food, etc.). You can download a Financial Assistance Form here.
- Home Away From Home Program — a financial relief program for heart families in the Big Bend area of Florida who need extra assistance during a planned or unexpected hospital stay. This program provides as much funding as possible to help families cover the costs of lodging, gas and food. You can download a HAFH Assistance Form here.
- PICU Family Dinners — a weekly event, held in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the UF Health Shands Hospital for Children; free dinner provided to families in the unit
- Food from the Heart Pantry — a source of free, quick, nutritious snacks and light meals, available to families staying in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at UF Health Shands Children's Hospital
- Care Packages — goody bags filled with toys and toiletries for children and families who are in the hospital for surgery or a procedure
- May Day Picnic — an annual, daylong event held in Gainesville, Florida, for families treated at the UF Health Congenital Heart Center and their UFCHC caregivers. Our May Day Picnics are always fun!
